8TML: the language of the town

Every plot in T8wn is written in 8TML, a markup language made for 8-bit computers. Why not plain HTML? A modern web page easily weighs more than a C64’s entire 64 KB of memory, and reading it takes a real computer. An 8TML page is a few kilobytes of text that the C64 reads in a single pass.

If you know Markdown, you already know most of it:

# Hello, T8wn!

This is *my* plot. <lightblue>Welcome!</>

* [Games I love](games.8tml)
* [My demo collection](demos.8tml)

On top of Markdown it adds what a home page needs: the 16 classic colors by name, centered text, stylesheets and forms. And it leaves out everything dangerous: a page can never run code on the visitor’s machine.
