Rules

  • A * opens emphasis only when it is followed by a non-space character, and closes it only when it comes after one. Any other * is printed.
  • _ never means emphasis: _word_ is printed as written.
  • An emphasis that isn’t closed lasts until the end of its block.
  • Emphasis is styled by the stylesheet keys em and strong. If those have no color of their own, they keep the color of the surrounding text.
