A page’s styles come from four sources. Each later source overrides single keys of the earlier ones, not the whole sheet:
- The client’s defaults.
/site.8ssof the page’s host: the site-wide stylesheet.- The page’s own stylesheet, named by
style:in the page header. - Stylesheet keys in the page header.
site.8ss
- Clients fetch
/site.8ssautomatically, once per site, and cache it. - A missing
site.8ssis remembered too, so it is only asked for once. - Every file reference in a stylesheet is an address, resolved relative to the stylesheet itself.
Example
/site.8ss:
text: lightgrey
bg: black
h1: yellow
link: lightblue
retro.8ss, the page’s own stylesheet:
bg: blue
border: lightblue
The page:
---
8tml: 1
style: retro.8ss
case: mixed
h1: white reverse
