Rules

  • The link text may contain inline tags and escapes.
  • The client collects everything from [ to ]. If the next character after ] is (, the address runs to ) and the text becomes a link. Otherwise the collected text is printed as written, brackets included: [x] stays [x].
  • Link text is at most 80 characters, an address at most 255. If the limit is reached before ] or ), the collected text is printed as plain text.
  • An empty link text, [](url), shows the address itself.
  • Links are styled by the stylesheet keys link and, while selected, link-sel.
[](http://t8wn.com/) shows its address.
A checkbox [x] is just text.

Addresses

Addresses are resolved against the page, as described under URLs: news.8tml, /, ../games/ and ?page=2 all work.

Links with a scheme other than http or https are shown, but can’t be followed. Reference links ([text][1]) don’t exist in 8TML.
